About Me
Adam became involved in barbershop at the age of 14 while growing up in Fremont, NE. He was involved in a musical production that was being directed by the director of the local barbershop chapter. After rehearsals, the director had Adam and his friends staying around teaching them tags and they soon had a quartet going. He has been hooked since then and continually loves to improve and help others with the barbershop craft.
His musical studies began at the age of 5 with piano lessons, which led to several concerto level competitions, recitals, and awards. Lessons on pipe organ soon followed and Adam found himself subbing and playing at churches throughout the area. All the while, his love of percussion (especially drumset) really began to grow. He went on to the University of Nebraska to study theory, percussion, and some voice and performed in the University Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Men’s Choir, Marching Band, Jazz I (drumset), and Jazz II (piano). Following several years of college, he became a first call drummer in the Lincoln, NE area followed by some touring with several jazz, rock, and country bands.
Adam is currently the musical director for the Colorado Springs, CO Pikes Peak Chapter. His arrangements have been commissioned and performed by some of the top quartets and choruses in the BHS and several in SAI and Harmony, INC. In 2004, he was certified in the Music Category and remains the youngest certified judge in the BHS. His first district quartet championship and trip to the international stage occured in 2006-2007 with the quartet MOJO. He currently lives in Denver with his wife Heather (a Sweet Adeline herself) and works as a Production Manager for The Sunnywood Collection; a company specializing in mounting and displaying of minerals and gemstones. In his “spare time”, he continues to study the drums, cook, and golf.
